In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful, the Ever Compassionate…
Imaam Ibn Maajah collected an amazing hadeeth in his Sunan, on the authority of Mu’aath ibn Jabal, may Allaah be pleased with him, who said that Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) said:
وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ السِّقْطَ لَيَجُرُّ أُمَّهَ بِسَرَرِهِ إِلَى الجَنَّةِ إِذَا احْتَسَبَتْهُ
“By the One in whose Hand is my soul, verily the stillborn fetus will drag its mother into Paradise by the umbilical cord if she accepts it (i.e. deals with it patiently, hoping for reward).”
Source: Sunan Ibn Maajah, Kitaab al-Janaa’iz, Chapter: Regarding Those Afflicted with a Stillborn Fetus (#1609). Al-‘Allaamah al-Albaanee called it “saheeh” (authentic) in his checking of the book.
My shaykh, Dr. Muhammad ibn ‘Umar Baazmool (may Allaah preserve him), said:
If a woman gives birth prematurely, or has a miscarriage, and what comes out is in the form of a human, then it is considered a siqt (stillborn). And the blood that comes with it is nifaas (post-partum) blood, and thus takes the related rulings (ie. 40 days of not praying or until the bleeding ceases).

Although to many it is clear that the woman will not exceed leaving off praying and fasting for more than 40 days, too some it may not be clear due to the phrase ” or until she stops bleeding “. Jazaakallahu khairan

Clarrification, the hadeeth that which was mentioned… This is only if the child (baby) died right?
Assalaamo alaykum. Please can you write an article with a summary/bullet-point list which the sisters can follow, of what the average woman must do to attain paradise. Most books and lessons are directed at male students of knowledge
Like a list of fard ayn for the woman
Assalamu’Alaikum, in this instance, is an aqiqah still required to perform for the still born? And what is the ruling on the aqiqah on the fetus that does not come out in the form of a human (not developed to this stage)?
Jazakum’Allah Khair
Assalamu alaykoum,
If it is discovered by an ultrasound that the child died in the womb before the soul is breathed into it but the pregnancy is not lost until after the period which the soul would have been blown into it. Does the child get a janazah and is it to be named or do they go off previous knowledge that it was deceased in her womb before that point?
Jazakum Allaahu kheira
What advice can you give to a mother of young children who wishes to seek knowledge and maintain a good level of Eemaan however struggles and feels overwhelmed with her responsibilities and tiredness? For example struggling to wake up for fajr due to baby not sleeping well.
Also to a mother who is exhausted due to the needs of her children and the responsibilities of the home, how can she keep herself positive and not feel overwhelmed?
Jazakallaahu khayran
Any response would be much appreciated and something that could be shared with other mothers I know who go through the same feelings
