QUESTION

Is it permissible to make rukoo' with only one hand on the knee, while the other hand holds a child?

The Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhe wa sallam) prayed holding Umaamah [1], and he would put her down when he made rukoo' and sujood. So based on this, in my view, he should put the child down when making rukoo'.

And if there is some reason that makes it necessary for him to hold the child during the rukoo', then it seems that it would be permissible, and Allaah knows best.
